Boast In This!

Hello dear Ones!!!

How have you all been?  I do pray you are well, and especially that all are safe from the awful damage from Hurricane Helene! We cannot ourselves do anything to prevent natural disasters from happening—BUT—we can prepare as best as we can ahead of time, and then when something happens we can do whatever we can to help those around us!

This week’s memory verse is an example of this to me.  It gives us  things NOT to do—we are not to boast in any wisdom of our own (any true wisdom comes from God anyway), nor in any of our riches (afterall, riches can literally be here today and gone tomorrow). Physical might—nope!  We are not to boast in that either—and like the other things, it could easily be here one day and gone the next.

But there IS something that it is good and appropriate and right for us to boast in, and that is for us to boast in our God! It reminds me of the story of David and Goliath, when David heard how God’s name was being treated and ridiculed, THAT was what really raised his hackles up!  It was God being disrespected that made David feel like “you can’t say that against MY God!  This has gone on long enough!” It is our God who practices steadfast love, justice, and righteousness.  Does He practice because He doesn’t know how?  Oh no!  It is His “regular.” Just like Daniel whose regular practice of throwing open his window and praying to the God of heaven did not change—even when there was a literal death threat against anyone who prayed to other than the king for thirty days. Even a death threat did not change Daniel’s “practice.” No matter what—you can rest assured that God’s regular “practice” is steadfast love, justice, and righteousness.  There is nothing that is going to change His love for YOU, my friend!

Until next time,

Friend
