Ode to Purple Pen
I think that I shall never see
A pen with ink as purple as thee.
A pen whose deep and lovely hues remind,
Of viola tones dark—sublime.
A pen that spreads its cheerful words,
Sharing ideas, serious—absurb.
A pen a child grasps with glee,
Creating artwork for you—for me.
Fifty plus pens between just two,
Write a journal? A book? What would you do?

Hello Dear Ones!
I do hope you are all well! Have you ever laughed with glee at the simplest gift? One that just made you smile? I received such a gift today with instructions to share with my daughter—purple pens! Over 50 of my favorite inexpensive writing pen—but in PURPLE! I knew they came in blue and black, but I had no idea they came in PURPLE.
And so a silly poem emerged, based of course on the famous poem “Trees” by Joyce Kilmer, and as I started reciting it to my daughter she laughted and insisted I write it down. So with a hope to also bring a smile to your day today, I share it with you above. As the expression goes, I don’t think I will quit my day job! 😂 But it did give us a good chuckle this evening.
The holiday season is upon us, with a big list of “extras” that we do. GOOD things. Things for charity—for our family and friends and relatives. But in the midst of the bustle, I do hope you will take moments to slow down and notice and appreciate the small, simple things in life. Things like a gift of purple pens.
Until next time,
Friend

Those little things are HUGE! We need to stop and smell the roses more often or enjoy the purple pen. Cute poem!
